CAMPAIGNS
Issue based campaigns are run to maximize the effects & to reach the cross section of people. Mass mobilization has sparked many a mass movement. Some of these campaigns are part of the ongoing activity at SRUSTI. The following are some of the important campaigns :
Livelihood: Access to continuous employment, be it through government wage employment programmes or through creation of non-farm sector livelihoods.
Health : Reproductive health have been the major focus. Birth planning at community level, BCC for good maternal & child health practices amongst tribals, home herbal gardens for preventive care, Environmental measures to combat Malaria are some of the major campaigns of SRUSTI.
Safe Motherhood Campaign : Being the nodal agency of White Ribbon Alliance , reduction of maternal mortality & morbidity is the primary objective. We make that possible by addressing the identified bottlenecks & creating awareness in a campaign mode. Blood transfusion to anemic pregnant women has saved many mothers. Creation of peer educators amongst adolescent to address anemia, low marriage age, particularly amongst girls, & adolescent pregnancy has helped save lives. Birth planning & preparedness at community level is the major focus of this campaign.
Women empowerment : Increasing access to services, be it health, employment or livelihood has been with very good results. Economical empowerment through enhanced access to financial services has been the key to the success of the campaign.
Well being of Child: “Catch them young” being a popular slogan at SRUSTI, we run many child specific campaigns. Complete immunisation, education & nutrition programmes have ensured the welfare of children.
Rights: Being led by
lawyers, right based campaigns are an integral part of SRUSTI’s annual plans.
Right to Information Act has been a great ally in furthering right based
campaigns.
- Rights of the forest dwellers are being ensured by use of Forest Rights Act.
- Right to employment i.e. livelihood is being strengthened by popularising the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( NREGA)
- Consumer protection act for improved services for the people.
- “Pick your school campaign” where a child enjoys the freedom to opt for the school of his/her choice.
